12 Jun 2024

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) manufacturer CU Medical announced on the 12th that its new product 'LiFEGAIN CU-RS100' currently under development won the Red Dot in the Concept Design/Medical Devices and Technology (The Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2024 / Medical Devices and Technology) category of Germany's 'Red Dot Design Award'. The Red

Dot Design Award is the world's largest design competition hosted by the Design Zentrum North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany, and is considered one of the world's top three design awards along with Germany's iF and the United States' IDEA.

The main design concept of the LiFEGAIN CU-RS100 product from CU Medical System is 'much lighter, yet tougher'. The goal was to create a manual defibrillator that can be conveniently used in marine environments. It was designed to be durable and convenient so that it can operate smoothly in marine environments as well as general emergency medical environments, and it was designed to be prepared for saltwater exposure. The equipment was made smaller and designed to be highly portable to increase usability in narrow cabins. The UI (user interface) was designed intuitively to increase usability as an emergency medical device.

A CU Medical System official said, "We are honored to have achieved the results of our intense consideration with a focus on existing and potential users," and added, "We will continue to strengthen CU Medical System's global position through continuous research and development for more competitive products in the future."
